The lead-bismuth main pump, as the "heart of the nuclear island" of the fourth-generation lead-cooled fast reactor (LFR), is a major piece of equipment with strategic significance in the research and development process of my country's advanced nuclear energy systems. As the only high-speed rotating equipment in the primary loop of the reactor, it assumes the core function of high-temperature lead-bismuth dielectric circulation.

Faced with world-class technical challenges such as the strong corrosiveness of liquid metal and poor sealing stability at high temperatures, the company innovatively built anintegrated research system of "technology research and development-process verification-intelligent manufacturing". A cross-department joint research team was formed by technical experts from the final assembly workshop and technical backbones of the technology center. During the physical assembly stage, it overcame the bearing assembly problems under high temperature conditions, completed 6 iterative optimizations of the assembly process, successfully completed the demanding assembly requirements, and solved the technical problem of stuck necks. The product test run was a one-time success. The assembly experiment has been completed and sent to the user site.

The people of Chongpump have interpreted the spirit of craftsmanship and innovation with practical actions. They worked together and overcame technical problems one after another, laying a solid foundation for the engineering application of my country’s fourth-generation nuclear power lead-bismuth fast reactor and injecting new vitality into the development of my country’s energy technology.
